Sections

Beavers, Cubs and Scouts - we have a section suitable for all children between 6 and 14 years old.

Our group sections

We welcome young people and adult volunteers of all genders, beliefs, ethnicity and abilities. Our group offers activities for young people between 6 and 14 years through our Beaver, Cubs and Scout sections.

Beavers - 6 to 8 years

Our group has two Beaver colonies – Pegasus Beavers and Phoenix Beavers. Our activities involve mud, glue, chocolate and lots of noise! Beavers explore the outdoors, make things, play games, learn how to be safe and most importantly, making new friends.

Our Beaver colonies meet weekly during school term time, except on Bank Holidays. Colony meetings usually take place at our Scout Hall, but we also make use of the playing field next to the Hall and go out into out local community.

Pegasus Beavers meets on Monday evenings between 6:00 pm and 7:15 pm.

Phoenix Beavers meets on Friday evenings between 6:00 pm and 7:15 pm.

Cubs - 8 to 10½ years

Our group's Cub Pack is called Auriga Cubs. Cubs learn practical skills such as map reading, cooking and pioneering, whilst exploring their surroundings and having adventures with friends. Our outdoor activities include camps, climbing and hikes.

Auriga Cubs meet weekly during school term time, except on Bank Holidays. Pack meetings usually take place at our Scout Hall, but we also make use of the playing field next to the Hall and go out into out local community.

Auriga Cubs meets of Tuesday evenings between 6:30 pm and 8:00 pm.

Scouts - 10½ to 14 years

Our group's Scout troop is called Apollo Scouts.  Our Scouts work in teams or independently on adventurous and challenges that develop skills for every day live.  Their activities include going on expeditions, week long summer camps, and much more.

Due to high demand in the area there may be a waiting list at any time for any of our sections.  We try to enable children to join the appropriate section as soon as possible.
We give priority to current members who may be moving up between sections.  For example, once a Cub has reached the age to move up to Scouts, the Cub will have priority for a place in our Scout Troop over somebody wishing to join Scouting as a Scout for the first time.
District sections
Beyond 14 years, sections for 14 to 25 year olds are run at district level.  Rhondda Cynon Taff district offers activities for young people through their Explorers and Network sections.
